Over the last three years, I have taken over the second bedroom in our home, transforming it into a combination studio and office space. My husband was kind enough to give me full control, so I added tons of feminine color and pattern. The scheme is based around a soft mint color on the walls (“Icy Mint” by Valspar) and I just recently added a faux crown molding effect at the top in collaboration with The Home Depot. For art, I used a collection of thrift store finds, a bulletin board full of inspirational cards and fabric swatches, plus a big installation of paper pinwheels that I made for our wedding last year.

The inspiration for my office came from the blogs I read, Pinterest and my own instincts. I consider each piece—from my Parson’s style desk, to the vintage New York print on the wall—my absolute favorite thing in the world. I think your office should be full of treasures that you couldn’t live without. It’s now my sanctuary.

My desk came from, my ghost chair is from Amazon and the frames and shelves all came from IKEA, but for the most part the room is full of DIY projects that I made myself, or second-hand thrift and estate store finds.

My favorite part of the room is the collection of DIY paper pinwheels hung above my desk. They were the final touch that really made the room feel finished, plus they remind me of our wedding day every time I look at them.

Absolutely. This room has been a long work in progress. It has gone through three different paint colors, countless pieces of furniture and even more rearrangements. I only just recently got it “right” and have felt more productive, more inspired and more enthusiastic about my work ever since.

Carrie. (Cheesy, I know – but it just feels so “me”)

I am a freelance graphic designer, writer and stylist, so I spent a TON of time in my studio/office. If I had to work in a cluttered space with a disjointed color scheme, my productivity would be in the pits. So making this room feel collected and organized was a top priority. I know, without a doubt, that having a well put together office will point my business in the right direction as it grows.
