My hair has gone through many changes over the years and I have to say that right now I’ve never been happier. I love the color, cut and length and sadly it took me almost 30 years to finally get here-LOL. With all the many changes my hair has gone through, I’ve learned a thing or two. I’ve made some fabulous hair decisions and some not so fabulous hair decisions that I’ll tell you about today. Oh and of course, what to do if you make some not so fabulous hair decisions yourself.
Not sure why I’m smiling, just dyed my hair as black as I could get it.
Note to self, do not dye your hair black because of your bad mood
Yep, you read that right. I dyed my hair black when I was in a bad mood. My hair guy asked me about 6 times if I was sure I wanted to do it and I insisted that’s the color I wanted. He tried again and told me it would be hard to get the black out if I changed my mind, would have to bleach my hair and cause tons of damage. And what did I do? I made him dye it black anyway.
See? WAY too much black haha!
I was going through a rather tough time and thought the black hair was fitting. I do like the way it looks on me but the like lasts about a month until I feel a little too goth for my liking. Sure, I love to wear black and style my space black; but factor in the black hair and it was too much.
How do you get rid of black hair? BLEACH.
Oh the joys of bad decision making. So after a few months of doing the black hair thing, I realized I just couldn’t hang anymore. I could not stand to look at my super dark hair another second. It’s bad enough that when my hair is brown people refer to it as black but my black hair was almost darker than black haha.
Round 1 of bleaching the black out
I sat down at the hair salon and with much embarrassment told my guy I was done with the black. He gave me his “I told you so” then warned me about all the bleach we would have to put in my hair and how damaging it would be to my hair. He asked for the second time now, “was I ready?” for this damage. I told him anything was better than my jet black hair and let’s get the show on the road.
HELP! I need hair products!
Thankfully, because I decided to do just highlights instead of bleach all my hair, the damage wasn’t too bad. I’d been using a few different super moisturizing hair products for a while now and thought I’d try something new. So, I popped over to Target (best store ever, duh) and decided to try the NEW Dove Regenerative Nourishment Collection. I got the shampoo, conditioner and serum to help with my damaged locks. Next time you are at Target, grab the new Dove Regenerative Nourishment Shampoo, Conditioner and Serum in Oil. Your hair will thank you!
Loving my color now!
And then what happened?
So far, it’s looking good! My hair color is right where I want it and I only had to add a few more highlights and then continue on with the auburn hair color I now have. The black is no where to be found and neither is the damage that my terrible mood and terrible decision caused.
Do you have any horrible hair stories? Would love to hear about it in the comments below!
