Pets at Work with a Chief Kitten Officer

About your pet

Official Title: Chief Kitten Officer

Workday duties: Responsible for pulling pages out of my printer, in charge of Purring, responsible for at least 3 head butt kisses per hour, must keep my desk chair warm for me when I step away, walking on laptop as often as possible, & letting me know when it’s lunchtime.

Breed/animal: domestic short hair/tuxedo kitty

Favorite workday activities: Napping in my inbox after doing said workday duties listed above

Favorite workday snacks: Bologna

Start Time: Usually late (blames it on toy distractions in the hallway), but tries to be here at 9:00AM-ish.

How long has Lola Belle been at the company? 4 months & she has made great strides in a very short time. I’m considering promoting her & putting her in charge of filing.

About you

What made you decide to start bringing Lola Belle into work? Since my office is at home, she started barging in so I put her to work in charge of all things paper-related.

How would you describe a typical workday with Lola Belle? Watching her makes me want to work faster so I can nap with her.

Would you say that having your pet at work helps or hinders your work? Definitely helps. I smile all the time & it comes across in my voice when on conference calls with clients. And when Skyping….she LOVES the camera!

What do clients think/say about Lola Belle being at the office with you? They’re jealous – most of them have fish.

Do you think more offices should allow pets at work? Absolutely. Years ago I had a pet insurance company as a client. Those were the BEST meetings I ever had.

What’s your favorite thing about having Lola Belle at work? She keeps me sane & I know I have to work hard so I can afford all of her toys & food (she has a BIG appetite).
